AUSTIN/TRAVIS COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS)
The Austin-Travis County EMS Department is the primary provider for medical rescue within the City of Austin and Travis County. The Department is jointly funded by the City of Austin (70%) and Travis County (30%). The City of Austin is the managing partner of this funding consortium. A/TCEMS is supported in its operation by 18 first response agencies and 16 corporate first response teams. Medical Direction is through a full-time EMS physician who oversees the Austin-Travis County EMS System clinical alliance consisting of 38 different emergency service agencies. The Medical Director is the system's designated medical coordinator for all EMS and First Responder activities within the City of Austin and Travis County.
AUSTIN/TRAVIS COUNTY HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT
The ATC-HHSD's purpose is to work in partnership with the community to promote health, safety, and well being. They provide Public Health, Social, and Environmental Health services for Austin and Travis County, and serve a population of nearly one million.
AUSTIN TRAVIS COUNTY INTEGRAL CARE
The Center provides community-based mental health, mental retardation and substance abuse services to adults and children who are the most severely disabled and who are most in need of services. A comprehensive array of services is delivered through four networks and three support divisions located in over 60 facilities and numerous sub-contracted entities across the city and county. These services include information and referral, psychiatric evaluation, 24-hour crisis intervention, medication support, inpatient treatment, employment and vocational services, care coordination, service coordination, family support and respite care, housing, supported living and residential services. Additionally, Center staff often provide mobile services in consumers' homes, on the streets, or at other community sites. The Single Point of Entry (SPOE) has been developed as a uniform telecommunications system linking all the divisions of the Center.
AUSTIN WOMEN'S HOSPITAL
In February 2002, the Austin City Council approved the creation of an acute care facility on the fifth floor of Brackenridge Hospital at 601 East 15th Street. The Austin Women's Hospital opened in January, 2004, and is operated by the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). Entrance to the facility is via elevators located on Hospital Drive. CENTRAL TEXAS MEDICAL CENTER
Central Texas Medical Center is located in Hays County and serves approximately 2,210 medically indigent yearly. There are no private health clinics providing care for the medically indigent in Hays County. The Hill Country MHMR Center assists individuals with severe mental health problems.
COMMUNITY CARE
CommUnityCare is a non-profit organization that operates 16 health center locations providing adult primary care, women's health, pediatric services, dental care and behavioral health services. In addition, we offer services to those with HIV/AIDS at our David Powell site. Healthcare for the homeless is provided in our facility located at the ARCH in downtown Austin. Our medical offices are Federally Qualified Health Centers which means we have met strict guidelines established by the federal Bureau of Primary Health Care. This designation allows us to offer a vital safety net to those who have trouble accessing basic primary care and preventative health services. The vision of CommUnityCare is to Improve the health of the community by increasing access to the best care possible.
COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS OF SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS
It is the mission of the CHCSCT to operate a not-for-profit health related entity for the promotion of the health of the community. CHCSCT has a vision to expand it’s existing facilities and services and build/expand services on a timely and appropriate basis to meet the health care needs of South Central Texas as support and facilities are available. CHCSCT has a vision to offer preventive and primary care services and treatment of the sick, injured, afflicted, disabled, without regard for any person’s race, color, creed, national origin, sex, age, religion, economic status, or disability.
EL BUEN SAMARITANO
Since 1987, El Buen Samaritano Episcopal Mission has fulfilled a unique role in Austin as a provider of integrated health care, emergency food, advocacy, leadership, development, and basic education for working-poor Hispanic families. At El Buen Samaritano, the mission is to transform lives by engaging the strengths of working-poor Hispanic families to promote their successful participation in society.
FRONT STEPS RECUPERATIVE CARE PROGRAM
Front Steps, based on the belief that all people deserve the dignity of a safe place to call home, seeks to end homelessness by providing shelter, affordable housing, community education, and transitional healthcare services. Founded in 1997 as the Capital Area Homeless Alliance, Front Steps has worked to create practical solutions for helping people find their way home. Through shelter and permanent-housing programs, skills development, employment resources, recuperative care and more, Front Steps supports low-income workers, disabled and homeless individuals and their families to find lasting and affordable housing.
HAYS COUNTY CONSOLIDATED ISD STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES
The objectives of the Hays CISD are to act as a liaison between Student/Parent/School Personnel/Community Health Resources, and provide the following: emergency care for injured students, assessment and temporary care of ill students, specialized care for students with complex health needs, documentation and maintenance of student health records, prevention and control of communicable diseases, medication administration, health screenings and appraisals, individualized health counseling, student immunization audit, detection and reporting of suspected child abuse, environmental health and safety, health education and staff development.

JOHNS COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
Johns Community Hospital is a 58-bed general acute care hospital serving Taylor and the surrounding rural area of East Williamson County. The hospital has a 24-hour physician staffed Emergency Room. Attached to the hospital is the Health Center, a multi-specialty clinic for patients of all ages, which has six physicians, two family nurse practitioners and a number of visiting specialists.
LONE STAR CIRCLE OF CARE
Lone Star Circle of Care is a 501c3 nonprofit, operating nine community health clinics for uninsured and underinsured residents in Central Texas. “Lone Star Circle of Care is committed to the energetic and steadfast pursuit of quality, accessible and sustainable primary healthcare for Central Texas residents, focusing on the uninsured and underserved.” Lone Star Circle of Care is an innovative community health center and a critical part of the Central Texas healthcare safety net. LSCC is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
NATIONAL CENTER FOR FARMWORKER HEALTH
The National Center for Farmworker Health (NCFH), established in 1975, is dedicated to improving the health status of farmworker families by providing information services and products to a network of more than 500 migrant health center service sites in the United States as well as organizations, universities, researchers, and individuals involved in farmworker health. NCFH is a private, not-for-profit corporation located in Buda, Texas whose mission is "to improve the health status of farmworker families through appropriate application of human, technical, and information resources."
PEOPLE'S COMMUNITY CLINIC
People's Community Clinic is a private non-profit primary care clinic that provides medical treatment and prevention services for low-income uninsured and underserved adults and children. They have two outreach clinic sites target high-risk youth. People's serves as medical home for approximately 11,000 patients.
PLANNED PARENTHOOD OF THE TEXAS CAPITAL REGION
Planned Parenthood of the Texas Capital Region, Inc. is a non-profit health care organization providing high quality sexual health care and family planning services, at affordable prices, to men and women of all ages; resources and programs for sexuality education; advocacy to ensure reproductive rights, access to family planning, and comprehensive sexuality education.
SAMARITAN HEALTH MINISTRIES
Samaritan Health Ministries is a faith-based, non-denominational, not-for-profit organization that provides: Quality urgent and chronic healthcare (including medical, dental, mental health and pharmaceutical) to the uninsured in the greater Williamson and northwest Travis counties. Opportunities for healthcare professionals and other interested volunteers to give their time, talents, and resources to support this healing ministry. SHM also provides breast cancer screening, referrals and education, including diabetes education.
ST. DAVID'S HEALTH CARE
St. David's HealthCare is a partnership between the not-for-profit St. David's HealthCare System and HCA - The Healthcare Company, the nation's largest provider of health care. St. David's HealthCare provides quality, compassionate care through four comprehensive acute-care hospitals in Austin--St. David's Medical Center, North Austin Medical Center, South Austin Hospital, and Round Rock Medical Center as well as outpatient surgery centers, a rehabilitation center, a psychiatric facility and occupational health services.
SETON FAMILY OF HOSPITALS
The Seton Family of Hospitals, a not-for-profit organization, is the leading provider of healthcare services in Central Texas, serving an 11-county population of 1.4 million. The network includes: five urban acute care hospitals, including the only Level II Trauma Center in Central Texas; two rural hospitals; a mental health hospital; several strategically located health facilities that provide medical care for well patients; three primary care clinics for the uninsured.
TRAVIS COUNTY HEALTHCARE DISTRICT
The Travis County Healthcare District (TCHD) is a limited-purpose taxing district responsible for providing healthcare to indigent persons residing in Travis County, Texas. It is the mission of the Travis County Healthcare District to promote the health and wellness of the residents of the community, especially the uninsured and underinsured, by working together to ensure access to a full range of coordinated healthcare services. The Travis County Healthcare District was created by a vote of Travis County residents on May 15, 2004.
TRAVIS COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY
The Travis County Medical Society (TCMS) is a component society of the Texas Medical Association (TMA), a statewide professional organization of licensed physicians. With more than 2,500 members, the TCMS represents approximately 90% of all practicing physicians in the Greater Austin area. The TCMS represents the medical profession in matters of importance to the membership and to the community it serves
Project Access
The Travis County Medical Society, working with the Integrated Care Collaboration, has initiated PROJECT ACCESS, a coordinated system of volunteer physician care, hospital care, diagnostic services and medications assistance for the low-income, uninsured of Travis County. As of August 2006, 870 participating physician volunteers of Project Access continue to provide access to health care for low-income uninsured patients along with program partners such as the Seton Family of Hospitals, St. David's Healthcare, the Heart Hospital of Austin, Austin Radiological Association, Clinical Pathology Labs, Inc., and Austin Health Imaging. Since commencing operations in early 2003, Project Access has enrolled 1375 patients, provided over 6,600 patient encounters, resulting in over $5.2 million in donated care. Project Access patients have also received over $360,000 in free medications through patient prescription assistance programs.
UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS MEDICAL BRANCH
Established in 1891 as the University of Texas Medical Department, UTMB has grown from one building, 23 students and 13 faculty members to a modern health science center with more than 70 major buildings, more than 2,500 students and more than 1,000 faculty. The 84-acre campus includes four schools, three institutes for advanced study, a major medical library, a network of hospitals and clinics that provide a full range of primary and specialized medical care, an affiliated Shriners Burns Hospital, and numerous research facilities. UTMB is a component of the University of Texas System.
UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS SCHOOL OF NURSING
The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing is heavily involved in community activies: both on campus and in and around Austin. This section highlights the School of Nursing's relationship with the community health clinics, the city of Austin and the ongoing attempts of School of Nursing faculty and staff to recruit local people into the profession of nursing.
VOLUNTEER HEALTHCARE CLINIC
The Volunteer Healthcare Clinic serves as a walk-in primary care clinic on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and an appointment-only chronic disease management clinic on Monday evenings.
